Dear Center Point Energy
I know things have been quite crazy for you all since the hurricane, I know it has been for me. I just wanted to write and ask if you could please put a rush on restoring power to my block. You see, we’ve actually been without power since September 12th at 7 pm at least 8 hours before power went out in the rest of my neighbourhood.
I thought that losing our power first would spare us from any fires from electrical shorts during the hurricane. I was actually happy when we lost it, it seemed to me to be quite easy to fix. A transformer blew, how long could it take? I guess I was wrong as Center Point has stated that the last thing they are going to fix is transformers. Great! I am now into my 10th day without power. This sucks and what makes it really bad is that the street north of me has electricity as does the street south of me. This type of power grid does nothing more than piss me off to no end. Oh sure it’s great to live the Heights with the old trees and houses but unfortunately with this old historic neighbourhood comes the old historic power grid. All of the power lines are above ground and lacking the protection that buried cables enjoy. I know Houston has a low water table but it’s called the Heights for one reason, it’s higher than the other neighbourhood’s. SO, using that argument why aren’t the power cables buried? Maybe some are but not in my neck of the woods.
Your site is stating that my zip code should be back and functional by Thursday Sept 25th, almost two weeks without power in the swamp they call Houston. I know what you are saying, we are lucky that that is all we are without, some are without homes. I get this, I do but that is no conciliation for someone who has volunteered many hours of their lives including helping out Katrina evacuees 4 years ago. I know I should count my lucky stars but why can’t I do that under energy saving light bulbs?
Center Point, I pay my bills on time and after a week without electricity my patience is wearing thin
Here is a tree that feel in our backyard. I took this as Ike was leaving Houston
